A video presenting the issues surrounding common dates and the preservation of biodiversity in the oases of Kebili in Tunisia
For several decades, date production in the Kebili region of Tunisia has focused mainly on the Deglet Nour variety. However, there are many other date varieties in the region, known as common varieties, which are less demanding in terms of inputs and often more resilient to climate change. Restoring the importance of these varieties, along with other actions to strengthen biodiversity in the oases, could boost the resilience of oasis agriculture in the Kebili region.
